The Diplodocus, whose name means "double beam" in reference to its unique tail vertebrae, was one of the longest creatures to ever roam the Earth. This herbivorous dinosaur lived during the late Jurassic period, approximately 150 million years ago. Its impressive length, reaching up to 88 feet, was largely due to its extraordinarily long neck, which helped it to reach high foliage. Despite being one of the most complete dinosaur fossils discovered, much of the Diplodocus' lifestyle and behavior remains a mystery, sparking ongoing scientific debate and research.
